Maintenance
| How often | What to do |
|---|---|
| Every 3 months, and whenever you replace the probe | Calibrate the pH sensor. The app reports the probe's health afterwards; replace a probe it reports as worn. See pH. |
| When EC readings look off | Clean the EC sensor's metal tips and calibrate it. See EC. |
| After changing a pump's tubing | Recalibrate that pump. See Calibrating a pump. |
| Regularly | Inspect pumps, tubing and cables for wear, kinks and leaks. Check that hose ends still sit where they should, so nothing can siphon. |
| Before a supply bottle runs dry | Top it up. An empty bottle is the most common reason for an automation to stop with Needs attention. |
Cleaning
- pH probe: rinse in probe storage or cleaning solution, or in pH 4 buffer. Never wipe the glass electrode. See pH.
- EC and water temperature sensors: mild detergent, or an isopropyl alcohol based disinfectant. Stubborn residue on the EC tips comes off with a scouring pad.
- Air temperature and humidity sensor: do not clean it.
- Control unit: keep it dry.
Software updates
The device updates its own software over Wi-Fi and restarts afterwards. Nothing is needed from you. The app is updated through the app store, and tells you if your version is too old to keep working.
